The Hamburg Blues Band
The sound of the 60s has been booming for years and five guys have been touring crowded clubs for just as long who are without doubt among the best the European blues scene has to offer. THE HAMBURG BLUES BAND stands for intense, cleverly arranged and live stunning roots blues, which regularly leaves purists mentally reeling. The band, led by singer Gert Lange, who is often compared to Joe Cocker, mixes hard-hitting guitar blues rock with soul, classic rhythm'n blues, boogie and even excursions into jazz genres in a playful and traditional manner. The HBB line-up reads like a ‘who's who’ of the European music scene: Guitarist, singer, songwriter and Woodstock veteran Miller Anderson, who has played with all the top bands on the international music scene since the 60s (Ian Hunter , Keef Hartley Band, Savoy Brown, Stan Webb's Chicken Shack, Mountain, T-Rex, Donovan, the Spencer Davis Group, Mick Taylor, Roger Chapman and Jon Lord, Deep Purple); Drummer Hans Wallbaum, who sat behind the drums for Ruhrpott rocker Stoppok for many years, once drummed with Chuck Berry, Interzone and Marius Müller-Westernhagen; shouter Gert Lange worked with the Rainer Baumann Band, Stoppok, Inga Rumpf, Jack Bruce and Zoot Money; and Michael Becker (Spooky Tooth, Lake, Die Antwort) on bass.
