Why custom cable printing?
Custom cable printing offers numerous advantages:
1. Identification: With custom printing, you can clearly label your cables. This is especially helpful for large projects or when using multiple cables to avoid confusion and prevent cable loss.
2. Brand presence: Take advantage of the opportunity to make your brand visible. A print with your logo or slogan increases brand recognition.
3. Customised solutions: Every product is unique. With a customised print, you can put specific information or instructions directly on the cable, which makes handling and installation easier.
How does cable printing work?
Cable printing is an important process in cable production and processing, as it applies information such as cable type, size, serial numbers or manufacturer details directly to the cable. The colour of the print is usually white or, for lighter cables, black. There are several methods for printing on cables:
1. Inkjet printing: In inkjet printing, liquid ink is sprayed onto the cable surface. This method is particularly suitable for high printing speeds and variable data, as it works without physical contact. The advantages of this method are its speed and flexibility. However, it is important to maintain the correct distance from the cable during printing, otherwise the ink will smear. This is why this printing method is often used for continuous production lines.
2. Print wheel: A flexible print wheel is used to transfer ink to the cable surface. This method is similar to offset printing, but is particularly suitable for more flexible materials. Advantages: Well suited for large print runs and continuous printing. This makes it our preferred printing method.
Further options are: Embossing, laser engraving or thermal transfer printing.
Why can I only have my cable customised from a certain length?
Unfortunately, our cables cannot be printed on afterwards, but only directly in our bulk cable production. Depending on the structure and composition of the cable, there is always a scrap rate, which can sometimes be several 100 metres or even kilometres. That is why we require a minimum quantity for special prints. Please enquire about the purchase quantity and printing costs at info@sommercable.com.
Incidentally, many SOMMER cable assemblies are already provided with a transparent heat-shrinkable sleeve under which you can subsequently slide a labelled paper strip. Personalisation of plug connectors or cable splices is also possible at an extra charge. We can laser your company name or, for example, a note about a company anniversary or a dedication onto our TRICONE jack plug housings.
